The 15 Year Long Wait

Metroid Dread

Flashback to Christmas morning of 2005, my brother Tate and I are opening presents when we get to our big shared present that our parents had ready for us. After unwrapping, it was a small brown box, inside was a red GameBoy Advance SP. This alone was a huge excitement for us both but, alongside the system were two games. The first game was Pokemon Fire Red, which was our first Pokemon game (Our name was OWENOOOOO or something, due to it defaulting to all caps for some reason). The other, was the remake of Metroid 1, a game that my father had actually played as a kid, Metroid Zero Mission. It wasn't until years later that I realized, or learned that they had gotten the system and games from an industry event as my father was working at Best Buy at the time.

Zero Mission was my favorite of the two for sure, while I wasn't able to beat it for a couple years I would stil go out of my way to just play it and get completely lost in Brinstar, Norfair, Kraid and Crateria. I obviously needed help to progress so I asked my parents if I could go on the internet and look for help instead of going and finding a guidebook. This is how I was able to complete it, but while looking at all of these guides on sites I honestly can't remember the name of, this was around at least 2007 to 2008, and Metroid Prime 3 had just released on the Wii and as a kid with a Wii, I was always loved looking at the Wii shop, never understanding how much things cost.
